For every gesture chosen, a $0.50 micro-donation flows directly to the charity that delivers it. Your organization handles the mission. Built on Sixteen Years of Funding Real Impact
1Gesture is founded by Marvin Baker, who has spent more than a decade turning everyday business moments into measurable charitable outcomes.
While working in South Africa, Marvin saw children begging for food. It was the moment he found his purpose. He started a company to do something about it, and spent the next sixteen years building it into a business that funded agroforestry charities and NGOs around the world. By giving over 15 million restaurant diners the option to fund a tree when they paid the bill, it raised over $6 million, funding the planting of more than 5 million trees across more than 17 countries.

1Gesture is not a tree-planting platform. The focus is the six gesture categories above — ocean cleanup, animal welfare, food banks, rainforest protection, school meals, and clean water — with more added as new charities join the network.
Questions Charities Ask
Honest answers to the questions we hear most. We want you to feel confident about joining the network.
For every gesture chosen, the sponsoring company pays $1. At the moment of choosing, the recipient is invited to double their impact, turning one gesture into two.
If the recipient doubles: two gestures are delivered to you. You receive $1 in total ($0.50 per gesture) and 1Gesture takes nothing on that interaction; our fee is reinvested into the extra gesture.
If the recipient does not double: one gesture is delivered to you. You receive $0.50, and 1Gesture retains $0.50 to cover the cost of running the platform, processing payments, and keeping the service free for every charity. Because we are a CIC, that $0.50 is never profit; it funds operations, and any surplus is reinvested into the mission by law.
